Vernon Sexton established Sexton Design in Bend, Oregon in 1974. Prior to moving to Bend, Vernon graduated from the University of Oregon School of Architecture in 1969. Vernon apprenticed with firms in Philadelphia, Montreal, Telluride, Colorado and Portland, Oregon.
Early work includes projects at the Mt. Bachelor ski area, including the Pine Marten lodge, a 37,000 square foot lodge at 7,000 ft. Elevation and accessed by chair lift only. Other projects include the Sunrise day lodge, the ski shop, maintenance facilities and the chair lift.
Sexton Design has produced more than 400 custom home designs over the last four decades. Our designs can be seen throughout Bend in Northwest Crossing, Awbrey Butte, Awbrey Village, Three Pines, Old Bend and others in Central Oregon.
Each project begins with the clients needs, wishes, site influences and the budget target. The key to good design starts with the floor plan which must reflect all of the above.
We prefer to work with the client and the contractor from the first preliminary. This allows negotiated design and budget decisions to be addressed through the design process. Plans from start to finish usually take from three to four months.
We provide “builder plans” that include everything required for development design review and permit applications.
We have designed custom homes in many styles, including craftsman, prairie, lodge style, mid century and contemporary. Interior selections by the owner and contractor with input from the architect as required.
Fixed fee proposals are given before each project starts.
